| The Cathedral was already studying plans for remodeling and refurbishing when on 18 June 1967 Sunday worshipers arrived to find their church surrounded by fire engines, a repeat of the situation in 1849. The 1967 fire destroyed much of the interior, church floor and stained glass. |
