Adding to its woes, the parish was between rectors and woefully underinsured.  In fact, Bishop Whitehead made church insurance a major part of his address at the next convention. Christ Church was one of THREE diocesan churches destroyed by fire in 1899-1900 (Indiana, Kinzua, and Franklin). The diocese simply did not have funds to help the parishes.
