For five weeks this summer, members of St. Stephen's, Wilkinsburg, will again spread a little kindness through the neighborhood near their church.
Every Monday and Thursday night through "Peace in the Park," St. Stephen's provides constructive play, food and friendliness to children and families who live nearby.
"Anyone in the diocese is welcome to join us, especially those who like to entertain children," says the Rev. Nancy Chalfant-Walker, St. Stephen's rector.
Last year, 20 parishioners participated in some capacity.
Assistance can also be given through donating arts and crafts, board games, and baked goods.
"Peace in the Park" takes place every Monday and Thursday, July 5 through August 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. (5-8 p.m.for volunteers) at the Kelly Elementary School playground (two blocks from the church), 400 Kelly Avenue, Wilkinsburg. Call: 412-243-6100.
