On Saturday, March 23, about 50 clergy and laypersons from 18 parishes throughout our diocese gathered for Lenten Learning Day 2019: Good News Within Reach. By all accounts, participants came away from the event encouraged, both by the Good News of the Gospel, of course, and by the good news that sharing the Gospel with their neighbors, through both word and deed, is entirely within their reach – regardless of the size, location, or circumstances of their parish.
Here is a sample of the comments we’ve received from participants:
- “More people would benefit from this type of event. Get more people from more parishes to attend!”
- “It reminded us to take risks, to remember to allow the Holy Spirit to lead ministries, to try to understand where others are and what they need.”
- “It has shown me how important it is to GET OUT OF THE CHURCH to meet my neighbor!”
- “Keep this sort of program going.”
