Volunteer Day for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh

The Social Justice and Outreach Committee of the Diocese is urging participation in the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh Martin Luther King Day of Service, Monday, January 16, 2012.

This Day of Service will be dedicated to "Building The Dream" of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy and will be filled with a series of community development projects. The projects will range from painting a community center, repairing flooring in a Lawrenceville community center, to painting murals and other painting related projects.

Together with Pittsburgh Cares, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh plans to engage around 200 volunteers on this Day of Service. Every volunteer will be asked to come with at least one item to donate to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank when they arrive.

Mark Rust is the Diocesan contact person, so please contact him (mrust@aol.com or (412) 224-2352) if you or members of your parish are interested in working on January 16th.
