St. David’s Property to be Returned to Diocese

The ACNA congregation at St. David’s Church in Peter’s Township has informed the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh of its intention to leave the church at 905 East McMurray Road by the end of May. The St. David's property is one of those covered by prior court rulings confirming the property belongs to the Episcopal Diocese.

The Diocese had encouraged the ACNA congregation at St. David's to remain in the building and be good stewards, during the time that a diocesan special task force completed a strategic planning process addressing the role of properties such as St. David's in the ongoing mission and ministry of the Diocese.

The timing of this move coincides with the anticipated mid-May conclusion of work by the diocesan task force, which will be presented to Bishop Kenneth L. Price, Jr. and various governing bodies responsible for making the final determination about the on-going use of the property.

The Episcopal Diocese will cooperate with those affected by this transition and looks forward to an amicable process that has marked the return of other properties to the Diocese.
