DEADLINE EXTENDED: Parish Leaders’ Workshop to Focus on Sharing and Growth

Vibrant parishes make a diocese strong.
A healthy diocese helps its congregations flourish.
At the heart of both actions are local leaders who are confident and connected.

That’s why the Diocesan Life Committee is inviting everyone at the parish level — wardens, vestry members, clergy and interested others – to a leadership workshop, “Moving Forward Together: A Day to Reflect, Renew, Rebuild, and Rejoice.”

The event is an opportunity for sharing, for building closer bonds among congregations, and for learning how parishes can support each other and grow. It is a reflection of the diocesan Mission to be “Vibrant Episcopal Communities United in Christ.”

The day centers on three presentations and small-group discussions based on the workshop themes:

–   Reflect: how we value our common life in Christ given differing perspectives;

–   Renew: ways we can move forward together with a re-energized sense of purpose;

–   Rebuild: identifying parish needs that are not met and resources that can be shared.

Participants will be able to take part in all three sessions. They will be led by Pittsburgh Bishop Kenneth L. Price, and the Revs. Charles Brumbaugh and Bruce Freeman. Both are priests of the Diocese of Southern Ohio. The Rev. Freeman is a member of his diocese’s Commission on Congregational Life. The Rev. Brumbaugh once served in the Pittsburgh diocese as an Assistant at St. Paul’s, Mt. Lebanon.

The fourth theme, Rejoice, will be celebrated as the day opens with prayer and ends around the Word and Table of the Lord at Eucharist.

The agenda for the workshop, set for Saturday, April 10, 2010, at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Squirrel Hill, includes:
