Diocesan Resource Center, Reinvented

The Diocesan Resource Center has been undergoing extensive reorganization and the Resource Center Board is pleased to announce that the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh has developed a merger agreement and partnership with the Southwestern Pennsylvania Lutheran Synod's Resource Center.

Current Episcopal resources will be merged into the Lutheran's collection and all parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh will have membership and full access the combined resources and services.

The Resource Center is located at the Lutheran Synod's offices, 9625 Perry Highway (Route 19) in the North Hills, and is open 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Evenings and Saturdays are available by appointment.

The center offers printed resources, books, journals and magazines, media resources, sample curriculum and other materials that you can browse or borrow for up to three weeks. There are Vacation Bible School materials that can be checked out. The center also has a large library of anthem music that will be available by summer. There are "open files" which contain creative ideas and materials that member churches have developed and are willing to share with others.

The Resource Center Director, Beth Caywood, can be contacted at 412-367-8222. This new cooperative effort is still being organized and a web-based catalog is being developed. Until the materials are fully online, please feel free to call Beth to discuss your needs or visit the Resource Center in person. During the reorganization, it's best to call ahead before you go to confirm that Beth is available. There is plenty of room to browse the materials or even spend the day seeing what is available. Materials can also be distributed and returned through the mail.

The agreement also provides for acquisition of specific Episcopal and Anglican resources as needed. Any special requests should be made to our diocesan resource center liaison, Joyce Donadee, at 412-635-2312.
