Completing Your Pandemic-Year Parochial Reports

The 2020 Parochial Report filing period begins January 2. This year’s Parochial Report has been updated to reflect the changes and challenges that parishes have faced due to the coronavirus pandemic. Among the updates are:

  • Parishes are only required to calculate Average Sunday Attendance (ASA) for January 1 through March 1, and the line for Easter attendance has been removed.
  • Separate counts must be given for in-person and online Eucharists.
  • The Education section includes questions regarding the impact of the pandemic on education/formation programs.
  • Questions have been added on worship during the pandemic, as well as on efforts toward racial justice and reconciliation.
  • Parishes are asked to provide information about their PPP loans, and about the impact of the pandemic on parish finances. If PPP loan forgiveness was approved by the SBA in 2020, the forgiven amount must be included in Other Operating Income.
  • Clergy, staff, and vestries are encouraged to collaborate in completing a series of narrative questions regarding the challenges and opportunities posed by the pandemic.
  • Additional and more detailed data about outreach ministries and volunteer activities is requested.

Go to the General Convention Forms & Instructions page to access a PDF of the 2020 Parochial Report form, the workbook and instructions, and, new this year, a walkthrough “screencast.” Click here to view the Parochial Report communication sent to parishes by the General Convention Office earlier this week.

Given the number of significant changes this year, please allow plenty of time to review the instructional materials, prepare your responses, and pose any questions that you may have. Questions regarding the financial portions of the parochial report may be directed to Canon Treasurer Kathi Workman (kworkman@episcopalpgh.org). Contact The Rev. Canon Kim Karashin (kkarashin@episcopalpgh.org) with other questions.

Important Reminders:

  • The deadline for filing 2020 Parochial Reports is March 1, 2021.
  • Reports are filed online at https://reports.dfms.org. Use the same login information (email address and password) as last year. If you need help accessing the filing site, contact Canon Kim or Executive Assistant Andy Muhl (amuhl@episcopalpgh.org).
