Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh Full-Time Clergy Position: Campus Missioner

The Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh seeks a creative, energetic, and highly relational Campus Missioner to rebuild, lead and grow our ministries with college students, as well as other members of university communities, on four diverse university campuses, foster intergenerational relationships, and nurture the Christian faith of young people while serving on campus and parish base.

Primary Ministry Responsibilities

Campus Ministry Leadership
Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, Chatham University, and Carlow University

    • Build a cohesive, relational, and spiritually grounded community that connects Christian students, faculty, and staff across multiple campuses.
    • Empower student discipleship and leadership and foster peer-to-peer ministry.
    • Develop means of identifying Episcopal students, faculty, and staff; evangelize and invite into faith life and practice.
    • Create regular rhythms of gathering—small groups, meals, prayer, service, pastoral presence on campuses, and shared formation opportunities.
    • Integrate campus-ministry participants into the worship, community life, and mission of the Episcopal Church on campuses and parishes.
    • Work with other campus missioners to identify and develop opportunities for ecumenical and interfaith activities and projects.

Liturgical & Pastoral Responsibilities

Regular Liturgical Leadership

    • Serve regularly as preacher and celebrant at Sunday worship and major feast days and observances.
    • Offer capable, thoughtful leadership at the altar consistent with Episcopal liturgical tradition.
    • Preaching style that is biblically centered and communicates God’s promises in Christ Jesus with theological depth and clarity with pastoral sensitivity.
    • Integrate campus ministry into the liturgical life of Redeemer and other congregations.
    • Preference for candidate who is confident in musical leadership.

    • Able to articulate personal faith and associated practice.
    • Relate graciously and respectfully with people across theological, political, cultural, and generational differences.
    • Model open conversation, curiosity, pastoral thoughtfulness, and generous orthodoxy.

Qualifications

  • Ordained Episcopal priest, with preference for priest having completed curacy.
  • Demonstrated experience in campus ministry and/or young adult formation.
  • Demonstrated experience in community building and leadership development.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit for reigniting Episcopal campus presence.
  • Strong interpersonal, pastoral, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to collaborative ministry and shared leadership.
  • Ability to thrive in a diverse, intellectually engaged, multi-campus context.
  • Passion for nurturing Christian discipleship among emerging generations.
