UTO: Daily Thanks Improves Daily Life.

Spring UTO Ingathering Scheduled for Saturday, May 9th at St. Francis-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, Somerset

The mission of the United Thank Offering (“UTO”) is to encourage daily prayers, offerings and awareness of the abundance of God’s blessings. UTO is a spiritual and financial partner in the mission work of The Episcopal Church, founded by and administered by women since 1889.

The UTO ministry began as a way to show the connection between giving thanks and giving money – uniting sharing and praying. A few tokens in that “Little Blue Box” can convey our thanks and at the same time, when combined with other donations, can literally change lives around the globe or right here at home in Pittsburgh. In November, 2008, The Neighborhood Academy in Pittsburgh received a $25,000 grant to purchase a new van to transport their students to learning trips and after-school programs. Click here for details about the Academy’s van from the UTO’s national web site.

Thank you for your continued support of UTO and please remember that one-hundred percent of amounts collected are granted every year. No amounts are retained for administrative expenses or agency overhead. In 2008 the UTO Committee funded 91 grants, totaling $2,401,906.70.

Please join us on Saturday, May 9th at St. Francis-in-the-Fields Episcopal Church, Somerset for our Spring UTO Ingathering. Registration will start at 10:30 a.m. with a brief business meeting beginning at 10:45 a.m. Holy Eucharist and lunch will complete the program. Click here for printable driving directions (PDF).

The cost for the lunch will be $10. A printable registration form is available by clicking here (PDF).

Please remember that your United Thank Offering checks should be made out to UTO with the name and location of your parish in the lower left corner of your check. If you are unable to come to the Ingathering but wish to send a check, please send it to me at 132 Rock Haven Lane, Pittsburgh, PA 15228.

Hope we see you on May 9th.
