New Year’s Eve in Highland Park

New Year’s Eve in Highland Park At St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church

We’ll have our own little corner of "First Night" here in Highland Park, Wednesday, December 31 . . . .

The evening begins at 11 p.m. with a musical recital in the church, featuring Carrie Smith, horn, and Linda Morgan Ellison, piano–followed by a simple service of Holy Communion.

Then at Midnight we will climb the dark stairway in the Church Tower to Ring in 2009 on the Great Bell of St. Andrew’s . . . .

And then, over in Brooks Hall, we will enjoy refreshments (Champagne for the 21+ crowd, or sparkling cider, plus holiday cookies and treats — with the great fun music of *The Polished Pearls,* a wonderful alternative folk-rock ensemble featuring Andrea Scheve, vocals and guitar, and Trish Imbrogno, double bass.

Visit them first on MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/thepolishedpearls, then come hear them in person at St. Andrew’s on New Year’s Eve!

12:15-1 a.m.

(Folks are welcome to come for the whole evening, or for any part of it. It’s all free, though we’ll have a basket out for "free will donations.")

St. Andrew’s is located at 5801 Hampton Street, corner of Hampton Street and North Euclid Avenue, one block south of Bryant Street and four blocks south of the Park, in the East End Pittsburgh neighborhood of Highland Park.
