On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, volunteers from four Episcopal parishes gathered at Holy Cross, Homewood, for a Day of Service coordinated with St. Paul’s, Mt. Lebanon, and the municipality. Together, 25+ volunteers cleared and organized a storage room – simple work marked by shared purpose and the joy of working side by side.
That spirit continued at the Sojourner Moms Day of Prayer and Advocacy, where the Rev. Charles Fischer III led a portion of the prayer service for residents, staff, and volunteers. In February, volunteers joined Trying Together and the Early Learning Hub, as well as Sankofa House, and offered a few events filled with simple snacks, activities for children, and an opportunity to distribute winter wellness bags, along with hats and mittens.
Several family-focused gatherings are planned in Homewood in the months ahead. This season of listening and relationship-building is part of the Episcopal Education Initiative, as we continue showing up, building trust, and strengthening connections within the neighborhood.
