The Rev. Walter (Wes) Smedley has joined our staff as Canon to the Ordinary for Clergy and Congregational Care and Transitions.
Having grown up in Haverford, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, Wes received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Williams College, spent a wonderful year with the Quakers at Earlham School of Religion in Richmond, Indiana, then received a Master of Divinity degree from Yale Divinity School. He has more than 20 years of ordained ministry experience, having served in the Episcopal Dioceses of Connecticut, Philadelphia, Virginia, and Chicago.
Wes and his spouse, Loraine Freeman Smedley, have three daughters: Eleanor, Naomi, and Louisa. Their family also includes two beloved dogs, Ruthie and Scooter. Loraine (Lori) works at Carnegie Mellon University as Director of Development for Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy.
Wes and his family are eager to become Pittsburghers, and we looking forward to welcoming them in our midst.
