The Rev. Kimberly Karashin is a Pittsburgh native. She earned her undergraduate degree in education from Penn State in 1996 and an MBA from Duquesne University in 2003. For nearly 18 years, she worked for Pittsburgh-based PNC Financial Services, in various areas including operations, project management, and communications.
After years of discernment, Kim left PNC in December 2014 to pursue education and work in Christian ministry. She attended Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA, where she earned an MAR (Master of Arts in Religion) with an emphasis in Christian ministry and missiology. Kim was ordained to the priesthood in June 2019.
In November 2015, Kim joined the staff of the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh, as its Canon for Mission. She added the role of diocesan Director of Administration in 2020. In April 2022, Bishop Solak appointed Kim as Canon to the Ordinary. She stepped away from her Canon position at the end of 2025 to explore and engage in more parish-focused forms of ministry and is happy to now be serving three-quarters time as the diocese’s Small Church Missioner. She also continues to serve as the Interim Diocesan Transition Minister on a limited basis until a new Transition Minister is in place.
Kim and her husband Jerry were married in 2006 and reside in the suburb of South Park.
