\n\tTrinity Church escapes damage in the Great Fire of 1845 that leveled one-third of Pittsburgh.  It hosts meetings for groups displaced by the fire, including becoming the site of classes for Western University of Pennsylvania. <\/span><\/span>

\n\tAlonzo Potter and his children<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/sp><\/sp>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the seventh ballot, Alonzo Potter was elected as the third bishop of Pennsylvania.  A compromise candidate, Potter was vice-president of Union College when elected.  Lay representatives from 13 western parishes participated in the election. <\/span><\/span><\/sp><\/sp>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
