James Abercrombie Rector of St. Paul&#39;s, in Erie informs the Pennsylvania Diocesan Convention that tomorrow he will be introducing a resolution to divide the diocese. Shortly after, it is announced to the convention that the 1860 convention will meet at Trinity in Pittsburgh.&nbsp; An amendment is immediately offered changing the locale to St. Andrews in Philadelphia and the amendment passes.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:22px;\"><span style=\"font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;\"><span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"color:#B22222;\"><span style=\"font-size:22px;\">26 May 1859<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: comic sans ms,cursive;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">Abercrombie moves &quot;<\/span><\/span><em><span style=\"font-family: comic sans ms,cursive;\">Resolved, That so much of the Assistant bishop&rsquo;s [Bowman] address as concerns the division of the Diocese, be referred to a Committee of Six, from the various parts of the Diocese, to report to the Convention, at the earliest period, what action, if any, should be had upon the subject.&rdquo;<\/span><\/em>&nbsp; <span style=\"font-family: comic sans ms,cursive;\">The motion is immediately amended to a committee of six which reports back at the end of the day supporting division.&nbsp; The report recommends a committee be created to advise the bishop, standing committee and assistant bishop between conventions with power to call a special convention in September, if necessary.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;\"><span style=\"color:#B22222;\"><span style=\"font-size:22px;\">27 May 1859<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family: comic sans ms,cursive;\"><span style=\"color: rgb(0, 0, 0);\">A series of parliamentary manuevers result in a vote to recommit the resolution on division of the diocese to committee until Bishop Potter has returned.&nbsp; (Assistant Bishop Samuel Bowman was presiding at the convention. <\/span><\/span>)<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<span style=\"font-size:16px;\"><span style=\"font-family:comic sans ms,cursive;\"><span style=\"color:#B22222;\"><span style=\"font-size:22px;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.episcopalpgh.org\/archives\/wp-content\/uploads\/image\/Exhibit-Formation\/StPeterPGH.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.episcopalpgh.org\/archives\/wp-content\/uploads\/image\/Exhibit-Formation\/StPeterPGH.jpg\" style=\"border-width: 5px;
