\n\tAnthony Ten Broek<\/span><\/span><\/em>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBishop William Stevens convenes the Primary Convention at Trinity Church, Pittsburgh.  He preaches at the Eucharist and informs the convention he has chosen to remain bishop of Pennsylvania.  The convention organizes, choosing the Rev. B.B. Killikelly  as chair,  and the Rev. Anthony Ten Broek as secretary.  Not surprisingly they designate Stevens as the Bishop to provide oversight until they have a new bishop consecrated.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>Huntington                                       Kerfoot<\/span><\/span><\/em>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tTwo candidates for bishop are nominated: John Barrett Kerfoot, president of Trinity College in Connecticut, and F.D. Huntington,  the rector of Emmanuel Church Boston.  Kerfoot 1s elected on the first ballot with the clergy voting 19-9 and the laity approving that selection in a vote by deputations – 19 approving and 8 opposed with one deputation divided.  The convention approved a constitution <\/span><\/span>\"\"<\/a>and canons and choose the "Diocese of Pittsburgh" rather than the Diocese of Western Pennsylvania" as its name.  Those present then signed the testimonials certifying the election of Kerfoot.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
