\n\tPittsburgh deputation arrives in Philadelphia to confer with Bishop Stevens and agrees to submit a new letter of application removing their protest of the requirement that they had to first raise a fund for the episcopacy.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t3 October 1865<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWith Bishop Stevens's consent, the committee submits an application to both houses of General Convention requesting the formation of a new diocese.  Twenty-two of twenty-seven canonically resident clergy sign the application as did twenty-six of thirty-five parishes within the bounds of the proposed diocese.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t12 October 1865\"\"<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Committee on New Dioceses votes to approve creation of the diocese and specifies that as of November 1, the diocese will be in union with the General Convention.  The House of Deputies approves, as does the House of Bishops after changing the resolution to allow the primary convention to pick a name for the diocese.  <\/span>Presiding Bishop John Henry Hopkins helps guide the measures for his old diocese through the legislative process. <\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t14 October 1865<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBishop William Stevens issues a call for the Primary Convention of the new diocese to be held on November 15, 1865.  He specifies that until the diocese is fully organized, it shall operate under the constitution and canons of the Diocese of Pennsylvania. <\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n
