\n\tThe Rev. William White gathers a small group that takes first steps towards calling a general meeting of parishes to organize the church in Pennsylvania<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe general meeting of parishes in Pennsylvania appoints a standing committee of laymen and clergy to communicate with Episcopalians elsewhere, and calls for a preliminary meeting in New York, since organizing as a church is a task larger than should be undertaken by a single state. <\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t6 October 1784<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe meeting in New York is attended by sixteen clergy and eleven laymen from seven states.  They call for a General Convention to be held in September 1785.<\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n
