UN International Day Of Peace Celebration

 

On Tuesday, September 21, St. Mary of the Mount Church, 403 Grandview Avenue on Mount Washington, will host the 2010 UN International Day Of Peace Celebration, featuring an interfaith service, flag ceremony and 24-hour vigil.

The event, beginning at 7:00 p.m., includes:

♦  Rededication of the Peace Pole (May Peace Prevail On Earth)
♦  International Flag Ceremony (featuring procession of 195 international flags)
♦  Interfaith Prayer Service (deepening our understanding, appreciation, and tolerance of people of all faiths) with special YOUTH Focus, our future of PEACE!

24-Hour International Day of Peace Vigil. – St. Mary's of the Mount will be open the entire day for a 24-Hour Peace Vigil. Between the hours of 12:01 a.m. on the 21st through midnight on the 22nd, individuals, families and groups can help observe this interfaith Vigil by committing to a minimum of 15 minutes of prayer, meditation or peaceful contemplation.
