The Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce that Episcopal Church services will resume at St. David’s, Peters Township, after members of the current congregation move to a new location later this month.
A new team of Episcopal clergy will take over the services at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 27. The church is located at 905 East McMurray Road.
“We will be there on the first Sunday after the ACNA congregation leaves to continue to serve those members who told us they want to stay and worship as an Episcopal Church congregation. St. David’s doors will be open to anyone who wants to join us,” said Bishop Kenneth L. Price, Jr. of the Episcopal Diocese.
Bishop Price is currently assembling the new ministry team for the parish.
The Diocese was informed in late March by the ACNA congregation currently at St. David's that some members had voluntarily decided to relocate, despite encouragement from the Diocese to remain in the building while the Diocese completed a strategic planning process. The courts had previously ruled that the Episcopal Diocese was the rightful owner of the St. David's property.
In addition to on-going Sunday services, the church will also continue to host two day care centers: one, a Christian pre-school founded by the parish, and the other, for special needs children served by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.
St. David’s will continue to provide meeting space for a number of community groups, including the current garden clubs and those providing exercise activities, music instruction, and substance abuse help.
The parish is also available for receptions and special events, and requests for upcoming occasional uses are being received, according to Dr. Joan Gundersen, property administrator for the Episcopal Diocese.
St. David’s, as with all congregations in the Episcopal Church, welcome everyone who is interested in following Jesus Christ. The Church meets people where ever they happen to be in their spiritual lives and invites them to a deeper their relationship and commitment to Christ.
