Fresh Start, a resource for clergy and congregations in transition, is now a part of our diocese. A leadership team has been trained and is now in place. They will be offering a Fall Vestry Workshop at two sites within the Diocese for all vestry members throughout the Diocese. The first will take place September 24 at St. Paul's in Mt. Lebanon and the second on October 1 at St. Michael's of the Valley in Ligonier. The workshops will begin with registration at 9:00 and conclude by 3:00. Lunch and liquid refreshments will be provided. The cost will be $10 per person.
The morning session topic will be "Role Clarity." The presentation and discussion that will follow will center around helping the participants understand role expectations, both formal and informal, placed on clergy and themselves as parish leaders by the congregation and to assess the impact of the congregation's culture and history on these expectations.
The afternoon session will deal with "Conflict Awareness." No parish is without some sort of disagreement. The presentation and discussion, beginning with a base definition of "conflict," will explore types of conflict and help participants assess their personal styles of dealing with conflict and recognizing the early warning signs.
