Call for Convention Choir

Trinity Cathedral is hosting this fall’s diocesan convention, and it will conclude with a festival ordination eucharist at 2:45 p.m. We would like to have a massed diocesan choir sing at this service, and your choir’s participation is important.

The choir will lead the hymn singing and service music and also perform two anthems:
God So Loved the World – Stainer
Ain’a That Good News – spiritual/arr. Dawson
I suspect these should be familiar to most of your choir members.

The call time for the choir is 1:45 p.m. in the Trinity choir room, and I ask that your choir members bring their own vestments. If you do not have these anthems in your library, please let me know. I will have some extra copies on hand that day. I would like to know how many will be singing from your choir, so please send that on to me by October 11. We need to make sure we can accommodate everyone in our chancel.

Parking on Saturdays is not free, but the Oliver Garage (right behind the cathedral) and the Mellon Garage (a block away) should have plenty of spaces available that Saturday. The handicapped entrance is on the Oliver entrance. If any of your choristers need special assistance getting up to the chancel (there is not way of getting around stairs), let me know and we will have space prepared for them to start the service already on the altar. The rest of the choir will be in what I suspect will be a grand procession.
