Dear Friends,

There is so much to do to get ready to welcome our new Bishop-Elect Dorsey McConnell and to thank our beloved Bishop Ken Price for the great leadership he has provided us over these last three years.

Please mark your calendars with these important dates:

The Choral Evensong and Reception for Bishop Ken and Mariann Price at Trinity Cathedral on Sunday, September 23, at 4 p.m.

•  There will be a diocesan choir under the direction of Mr. David Schaap, Organist and Choirmaster at Trinity Cathedral.

•  We are inviting every church in the diocese to send a cookie tray for the reception.

The Ordination and Consecration of the Rev. Dorsey McConnell as the Eight Bishop of Pittsburgh at Calvary Church on Saturday, October 20, at 11 a.m.

•  Calvary Church is the largest church in the diocese. Nonetheless we know it cannot accommodate everyone. We will be giving tickets to every church so we know the entire diocese can be well-represented.

•   We will be needing volunteers ranging from acolytes and choir members to ushers and parking assistants. More information will be coming out over the next month or so.

•  There will be a lock-in on Friday night for the youth of the diocese.

The Bishop's Gift

To welcome our Bishop, we, as a diocese, are giving him his own crozier (bishop's staff). We hope that every church in the diocese will do some fundraising activity or special offering that will make this gift truly a diocesan-wide effort. If we raise more than needed, the balance will be donated to a mission project of Bishop Dorsey's choosing. Please be generous!

The Seating of the Bishop at Trinity Cathedral on Saturday, November 10

The Seating of the Bishop will take place on Saturday, November 10, during the Eucharist at our Diocesan Convention. It is a wonderful opportunity for the diocese as a whole to join in celebrating with our new bishop as he takes his seat at Trinity Cathedral.

This is an exciting time for our diocese as we move into our future. Please keep praying that our love for one another would continue to grow.

Your sister in Christ,

The Rev. Nancy Chalfant Walker
